Parasitic Treatment for Humans

Banner Graphic

Parasitic infections can occur through various transmissions, including ingestion of contaminated food or water, contact with contaminated soil or surfaces, exposure to infected animals or insects and through the bite of mosquitoes or ticks. Once inside the body, parasites establish themselves in specific tissues or organs, where they can cause a range of symptoms and health problems.

At Merge Health, we use nutrition and dietary modifications alongside herbal therapies to support the body’s natural defences, promote parasite elimination and restore overall health and balance.

Malaria

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by mosquitos, and can be severe and potentially fatal. Symptoms include recurrent fever, chills, sweating, headaches, muscle aches and fatigue.

Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasmosis is commonly transmitted through the ingestion of contaminated food or water, or through contact with infected cat faeces. Most people with toxoplasmosis experience mild flu-like symptoms or no symptoms at all. However, it can cause severe complications in those with weakened immune systems or pregnant women, potentially leading to birth defects.

Head Lice

Head lice are tiny parasitic insects that infest the hair and scalp. They feed on blood from the scalp and cause itching and discomfort. They’re a common problem, particularly among school-aged children, but they can affect people of all ages.

Giardiasis

Giardiasis is a gastrointestinal infection transmitted through the ingestion of contaminated water or food, or through contact with infected individuals or animals. Symptoms include diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, bloating, gas, nausea and fatigue.

Pinworm

Pinworm is one of the most common parasitic infections in humans, particularly affecting children. They live in the large intestine and lay eggs around the anus, causing itching and discomfort, especially at night.

Lung Worms

Lungworms are a type of parasitic worm that infects the lungs and respiratory tract of animals such as dogs, cats and livestock. They’re rare in humans, but can occur if you ingest raw or undercooked freshwater crustaceans (such as crabs and crayfish) or other infected hosts containing the larvae of lungworms.

The symptoms in humans can vary depending on the severity of the infection and the location of the parasites within the body. Common symptoms may include coughing, chest pain, difficulty breathing, fever, fatigue and even coughing up blood.

Babesia

Babesia is a tick-borne illness that infects red blood cells and can cause flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, sweats, fatigue, muscle aches and headache. In severe cases, it can lead to complications such as hemolytic anaemia, organ failure, and death.

Gut Worms

Gut worms, also known as intestinal worms, are parasites that infect the gastrointestinal tract. Common types of gut worms include roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms. Symptoms of gut worm infections vary depending on the type of worm but can include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, weight loss and nutritional deficiencies.

Liver Fluke

Liver fluke infection primarily infects the liver and bile ducts. It can cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting, jaundice and liver damage.
